Glen Cove Youth Bureau where youth achieve . .
Letter from our Director

As we are finally beginning to enjoy the spring weather the staff at the Glen Cove Youth Bureau are busy finalizing plans for our summer programs.  GCYB has summer programs for youth entering 1st grade through 12th grade.

Our Summer Camp program for elementary grade students will have a good time in house at Robert M. Finley School creating art projects, playing games and putting together a talent show. They will also get to go off site and enjoy swimming at local pools, visiting museums, the zoo and adventure parks. Our Glen Cove After 3 program for youth entering 3rd – 9th grade will be able to keep up with their academics during the mornings and participate in fun activities all afternoon.  Youth will be introduced to different careers and have the opportunity to learn about cooking, fashion design, art, and dance, experimenting through science, learning Italian, Spanish and possibly even sign language.  Fridays are reserved for all day trips on Long Island.  Both programs will enjoy a carnival at the middle school.

Thanks to a collaboration with S.A.F.E. and the GCYB  middle and high school youth will enjoy trips to action and water parks, Yankees and Mets games, a  NYC trip to the Museum of Natural History and a camping trip are all in the works during summer evenings and Saturdays.

A limited number of youth between the ages of 14 – 18 will have the opportunity to work this summer.   The 14 and 15 year olds under the supervision of GCYB youth workers will work in groups helping not for profit organizations and the city.  The 16 – 18 year olds will be in individual placements with the not for profits or city departments.

Over all the GCYB will provide daily exciting, fun learning opportunities this summer for over 300 youth.
