History of Glen Cove Youth Bureau

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau is the premier organization in the city dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment so that all youth, all families and the entire community achieve their potential.

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau was established in 1981 for the purpose of planning, coordinating, and supplementing the activities of public, private and religious agencies devoted, in whole or part, to the welfare and protection of youth. On an annual basis, 1,800 youth and their families are served regularly by the Youth Bureau. Youth Bureau policy is determined by a voluntary Board consisting of both youth and adults.

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau continues to advocate for youth and works hand in hand with agencies in Glen Cove to provide services to and/or promotes the welfare and development of youth and families. Working through several locations in Glen Cove the Youth Bureau provides youth and families with programs, services and resources that support and enhance positive youth and family development.

Some programs the Youth Bureau offers include: After School Learning Centers, Anti-Violence Seminars, Brown Bag Lunch Series, Community Service Learning Programs, Drop-In Center, Family Assistance, Mentoring Program, Positive Youth Development Workshops, Youth Employment Programs and Recreational Activities.
